Weight loss has been a significant health topic for many years, with many people struggling to lose weight and keep it off. In this article, we will explore the benefits of naturopathy so that you can find the method that is best for you!

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a health care system that uses natural remedies to treat both mental and physical problems. Naturopathic practitioners believe that the body has an innate ability to heal itself when given the opportunity. They work with patients to identify food allergies, toxins in the environment, and stressors.

Naturopathy For Weight Loss

Naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine that uses natural remedies to treat diseases, improve health or maintain optimum well-being. The naturopath healing approach is supported by the principles of homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, and Ayurveda. Naturopathic treatments relieve chronic conditions, prevent disease progression, restore good health or stimulate healing.

Naturopathy is a natural, alternative treatment of pain and illness. It uses homeopathy, acupuncture, massage, herbs, and lifestyle changes to treat your condition. Naturopaths are doctors who practice natural medicine with an emphasis on healthy lifestyle choices.

  • Insulin resistance or imbalance in blood sugar
  • Thyroid problems
  • Poor liver function
  • Low amount of stomach acid
  • Insufficient consumption of good fats

Commonly used herbs in naturopathy to lose weight:

There are many ways to lose weight with naturopathy, but herbs are one of the easiest ones. Herbs are natural substances derived from plants that have been used for thousands of years in various cultures. They are highly effective in fighting obesity because they help regulate metabolism and reduce appetite.

Mangosteen:

To lose weight, you need to consume lots of fruits and vegetables. This is where mangosteen comes in. The active ingredients of the mangosteen fruit, xanthones, function as an antioxidant that helps prevent cellular oxidation. Some studies have shown that mangosteen can help with weight loss by stopping the production of fat cells while regulating how they are broken down. Mangosteen also has other health benefits, which include good heart health and low levels of cholesterol.

Betel leaves:

Betel leaves are another commonly prescribed natural ingredient that can be included in your diet. The extract present in these green leaves has been found to lower BMI and regulate the body functioning. The same extract has also been found to help balance blood sugar levels while boosting immunity.

Gurmar:

Gurmar has been used in India and Tibet for centuries and was later introduced to the Western world by Dr. Christopher Vasey, a Canadian Naturopathic Doctor. He tried it on himself and noticed that his weight dropped significantly over five weeks.

Coconut oil:

Coconut oil is another commonly used herb to curb weight. Not only is it a globally recognized superfood now, but it is also far healthier as compared to other cooking oils. Since they are thermogenic, they warm up the body’s metabolic rate and help in regulating weight.

Naturopathy’s side effects

Certain medicinal herbs that help in weight loss can have adverse reactions in some individuals. Bitter gourd can stimulate periods and induce abortion, so it is a clear no for a pregnant or nursing mother to be. In some cases, bitter gourd may reduce blood sugar levels drastically, which is not a good sign. People with poor livers should also avoid bitter gourd.

Another example of a supplement is chromium. Even though it is safe, it should not be taken by people with kidney or liver disease.

This means that you should use herbs prescribed by the doctor even if they seem safe, like green tea and omega 3.

Naturopathy includes diet, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes known for their positive impact on health. When naturopathic doctors work with overweight people, they focus on physiologic imbalances in the body that may be causing poor health and weight gain. These imbalances can include a lack of nutrients vital for good health and a reduction in an enzyme called lipase, which breaks down fat cells.
